NRL 22 YOUNG GUNS – SEVEN FREHNER

Raising the next generation of safe, and responsible rifle shooters.

Message from Mom [Janae Frehner]: Tyler and I have three daughters that are anything except girly. They have been around guns their whole life. We have always shot. Whether it was targets, hunting, or competition, guns have always been a big part of our lives. We both believe educating our kids on gun safety, as well as properly storing them in a safe, is the best way to keep kids safe from gun accidents. We have always stressed, “Do not point your gun at anything you do not want to kill or destroy…”

Bonding

My husband and I have been shooting together for the last 3 years. It has been great for growing together as friends, and has been a very positive aspect in our marriage. One of the challenges it has presented is being away from our 3 kids. When the NRL22 was first formed, I thought it would be fun. However my interest in it… was not that huge. Then when all 3 of my daughters were interested in it, it became huge to me!

We can actually all go out as family, not only to shoot, but also to compete! It has been amazing. My youngest is still too young to compete, but she is getting ready and practicing for when she is!

Seven Frehner

My name is Seven Frehner. My friends call me Sev. I am 9 years old. I am from Las Vegas, Nevada. One of my hobbies, is writing books. My favorite hobby is Art. I am almost a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I have been doing it for about 1.5 years.

Competitive Shooter Profile

I just started shooting. My first competition was in September for the inaugural NRL 22 match here in Las Vegas. My parents are both competitive shooters and I have always thought it looked fun. They both inspired me to want to shoot. I had so much fun at my first competition.

My Rifle Build

I am running 10/22 Kidd Barrel on Titan stock with a Bushnell DMR

Favorite Part about the NRL 22 Match

My favorite part about competing in the NRL 22 is when i hear, “Impact!” because I know that I have hit the target that I was trying to hit! It’s so fun to hear that!

Challenges

I was not strong enough to hold the gun on the positional stage, so I volunteered to take a zero. As I get bigger and stronger, I know I will be able to do this stage! I am determined!

Or competing against other people made it a challenge for me. Knowing that I was shooting for score against other kids was scary for me. I kept listening to my parents and knew that I would do well if I focused on myself, and doing what my Mom and Dad taught me.

Inspirations and Aspirations

Janae: Always have been inspired by girl shooters. Also my Mom and Regina have always been my role models!

Seven: My Mommy and Daddy have always inspired me. Since I was little, they would have their shooting friends come over and stay with us for competitions. Sometimes they would make us sleep in the same room together so that their shooting friends could stay in our rooms. I was super excited to let them know that I would kick them out of their room to let MY shooter friends stay in THEIR room.
